Submit your personal
writing for review

Hello Writers,
Welcome to our Submission page. This is where you get to share your writing with us (the Papertown Imaginarium team), so that we can help you improve on your craft. Whether it’s a story, poem, or essay, we would love to take a look and give you feedback on your writing. Our feedback could be a note, giving you detailed directions, points, and advice on how to make your writing and narrative better. It could also just be a fan message telling you how much we enjoyed the narrative and how great the writing itself is! Whatever the case, we’re here because we believe in your interest in writing, and we want to help you do more of it and do it very well.

Before you jump in and start sending us materials, please take a moment to read and understand our Guidelines for Submission, so that you understand exactly how it works.

Thank You! We look forward to receiving your submissions!

Guidelines for Submission

1

We accept original stories, poems, and articles written by writers between 10 and 19 years anywhere and everywhere in Africa!

2

Your submission must be of original work - something you’ve written by yourself. Please do not send us something written by someone else or that has been copied, restructured and/or edited from another source.

3

Your submission can be fiction or non-fiction.

4

We do not accept work that has been previously published, whether in print or anywhere online.

5

You can send us any original work that was done/submitted for a writing contest, prize, competition, project, etc. which was not selected as a winning entry or for any prize or recognition, and was not published or recognised in any way by the organisers of the contest, etc.

6

We only accept submissions through the submission link on this website. Please do not send any submission to our email or social media platforms.

7

If you’re already a member of Papertown Imaginarium (i.e. you have an account on this website) you do not need to submit your writing through the submission page. Simply log into your account and submit any new writing from there.

8

Submissions can be typed into the text box on the submission page on our website, or attached as a file and submitted through the submission page. Files that are attached should be typed document saved in any of these formats: doc, docx, or pdf.

9

Please send us only finished, final versions of your writing. We do not work with summaries, drafts, story ideas, proposals, outline, or any form of unfinished/incomplete writing.

10

There is no limit to the number of stories, poems, or essays you can send us. As long as they are your original, unpublished writing, we’re happy to receive and read them. Just make sure to send them as separate/individual submissions.

11

We are only currently able to accept and work with content written in English language. We do not yet have the capability and resources to translate and work with writing written in any other language.

12

After we receive your submission, we read through and send you feedback - which may include notes for revising, editing, and/or generally improving your writing. If you are able to improve your work, following the review notes, we publish the final/finished version on our website for others to read. If your work does not need review or editing, we go straight ahead and publish it on our website.

13

Please note that we do not pay writers whose writings are published on our website. We do not charge writers for the services we provide them, and we do not charge people when they read content published on our website - and so we are not able to offer any form of payment to writers.
